Remarks: Engine as received was missing external parts, including make-and-break ignition linkage between eccentric and igniter. Also included with the engine was a box of parts, consisting of a disassembled reduction gear and a disassembled Schebler carburetor. At present, it is not known if these loose parts were associated with this engine. External surface of engine is relatively free of rust. The J. W. Lathrop catalog, circa 1925, states that this engine's rated rpm is 300, and its weight is 825 lbs. When purchased new for marine use, it would likely have been supplied with a Float Feed Carburetor and Check Valve, Water-Jacketed Exhaust Pipe, Muffler, Oil and Grease Cups, Crank Pin Disk Oiler, Thrust Bearing, Coupling and Exhaust Pipe Heater with Carburetor Connection. This engine was initially listed as Misc Inbd 18. Engine said to have at one time been used as a support for a mail box in Cos Cob, CT. This engine was initially entered into the data base under Acc # "Misc Inbd 18".
