Remarks: Ref: "American Gasoline Engines", Page 441, which states that two (similar) company names appear during the late 1890's, this one and the St. Louis Gas Engine Works, which may or may not have been the same company. It further notes that the St. Louis Gasoline Motor Co. was reported as sold prior to 1900 to the Acme Gas Engine Co. of St. Louis, a company not listed in the referenced text. The engine pictured on page 441 of the reference has a horizontal stroke arrangement, thus not likely intended for marine use. This engine was restored for MSM by Robert Attenborough, March 24, 1988. Four cycle engine equiped with a Monarch Carburetor.
