Both carburetor and inlet manifold removed from engine. See Acc.# 1972.302 for Lathrop Engine history of this particular engine. (Note that the 1972.302 engine is a three cylinder Lathrop Standard Model of 21 HP.) Lathrop made two, four cylinder Standard Model engines, a 28 HP and a 40 HP, the difference being that the 40 HP engine has a slightly larger bore ( 5-1/2 vs. 5- 3/16 in.) and is rated at 700 RPM rather than 550 RPM as for the 28 HP engine. Available documentation does not indicate whether this is the 28 or the 40 HP engine without removing the head. Exhaust manifold missing, believe on 1993.33. All four cylinders show cracking. Casting marked BA-316. (Richard Day)
