This collection contains correspondence,
accounts, bills, receipts, crew lists, bills of lading, and charter parties for the barks OCEAN
BRIDE and KREMLIN, merchant vessels carrying primarily lumber, grain and general cargo. |

James Burgess was a shipmaster from Boston. Between 1855 and 1864 he was master of
the barks OCEAN BRIDE and KREMLIN. Included also is a copy of a contract with Ingalls &
Shephard of Sullivan, Maine, to build a hermaphrodite brig.
