Description: Tobacco card, Lighthouse series by American Tobacco Co. for Hassan Cigarettes (T77); Cape May Light, no. 15 in the series; color drawing on front depicting Cape May Light and background scenery; surrounded by thin black frame line and white border; printed on front "CAPE MAY LIGHT"; printed on back "LIGHT HOUSE SERIES 1 TO 50/ CAPE MAY LIGHT./ Northeast side of entrance to Dela-/ ware Bay, seacoast of New Jersey./ Has flashing white oil light every 30/ seconds. Height above mean high/ water 164-1/2 feet. Visible 22 miles./ Established in 1823. Rebuilt in 1859./ There is a life-saving station on this/ Cape." and "HASSAN/ CORK/ TIP/ CIGARETTES/ The Oriental Smoke/ THE LARGEST SELLING BRAND/ OF CIGARETTES IN AMERICA./ FACTORY No. 649 1ST. "This series contains attractive drawings of 48 lighthouses in coastal locations around the country, plus the Statue of Liberty and a card depicting early coastal signaling methods. The lighthouses are mostly in the East, but there are a few (such as Tillamook Light) from the West Coast. The backs contain information abou the lighthouse, the sound of its signal and the year it was established.
