Description: 35mm color slide from voyage of brigantine ALBATROSS 1960-1961; photographed by Richard E. Langford who was a teacher aboard the vessel when it sank May 2, 1961; he used slides in this collection (2002.35.1-657) for lectures about the sinking. The following transcription is from Richard Langford Collection AV 193:2002-5,6: [TCR 01:41:33]: “From time to time, these birds would dive into the water and try to get the lures. These kids would trail a lure until they would catch a big tuna or a wahoo, and sometimes they would catch a bird. They would have to haul it in and get it out of its beak They’d usually have a discussion about who gets to hold the bird, then finally put it up on the railing and let it fly away again.”
