Langford who was a teacher aboard the vessel when it sank May 2, 1961; he used slides in this collection (2002.35.1-657) for lectures about the sinking. The following transcription is from Richard Langford Collection AV 193:2002-5,6: [TCR 01:39:52]: “I [Richard Langford] called this the silver beach at Bequia [Grenadines, West Indies]. Right down the beach and on the left was the Sunny Caribe Hotel, which was a wonderful big wooden structure with a wide veranda and rocking chairs on the front of it. You could look right out at this scene any night you wanted to. Served delicious food, too.” |
