Description: 35mm color slide from voyage of brigantine ALBATROSS 1960-1961; photographed by Richard E. Langford who was a teacher aboard the vessel when it sank May 2, 1961; he used slides in this collection (2002.35.1-657) for lectures about the sinking. The following transcription is from Richard Langford Collection AV 193:2002-5,6: [TCR 01:33:52]: “Oh, that’s sunrise in Trinidad. I was sort of the Master at Arms or something. [Christopher] Sheldon had me wake everybody up, because I got up early anyway, automatically. So I’d wake up about 6 a.m., and around 6:30 I’d start shouting for the boys to get up, clean, swab the decks down and all that, and then they could have breakfast. And I would take early morning shots like that.”
