Langford who was a teacher aboard the vessel when it sank May 2, 1961; he used slides in this collection (2002.35.1-657) for lectures about the sinking. The following transcription is from Richard Langford Collection AV 193:2002-5,6: [TCR 01:32:51]: “Inside looking out [Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua]. [Tray change.] (“So, you hadn’t used a camera much before this?” “Hadn’t used one at all. I got a little booklet from Kodak--cost me a dollar in a drugstore--on how to take pictures with Kodachrome or something like that. And I read it, and that’s how I learned to sort of frame a picture with a palm frond here and a palm frond there--that sort of thing. But I didn’t know anything else about it. And this camera also had a wide angle lens that worked out well when I was shooting up through the sails.”)” |
