Description: 35mm color slide from voyage of brigantine ALBATROSS 1960-1961; photographed by Richard E. Langford who was a teacher aboard the vessel when it sank May 2, 1961; he used slides in this collection (2002.35.1-657) for lectures about the sinking. The following transcription is from Richard Langford Collection AV 193:2002-5,6 [TCR 01:01:10]: "Brigantine Albatross was 92 feet 10 inches long, drew 10 feet in the bow, 11 feet in the stern. Her mainmast was 90 feet high. She flew about 5,000 square feet of sails. This shot was taken off Curacao, where we were lent a barge from Shell Oil Company for a daysail. And half the crew stayed aboard, and the other half of the crew took pictures of her as she sailed out of Curacao in the Dutch West Indies."
