Place: USA, MA, Marblehead Date: Circa 1945 Materials: wood; fiberglass Description: Double-ended gunning dory built in Marblehead, MA, using Chamberlain molds, c. 1940-50. Built by Captain Gerald Smith, of Marblehead. Has four rowlocks and evidence that two more have been removed. Exterior has been covered with fiberglass, hull is orange outside, grey inside, painted August 1972. Vessel has a flat bottom, is double ended, and was used for waterfowling. She measures 16' in length and has a 4' 6" beam. |
