Description: Brass repeating circle (full circle of reflection), in case, ca. 1820-55; brass frame, wood handle, crystal chipped; inscribed on arc "Gambey a Paris (No. 214)." (Henry-Prudence Gambey); repeating full circles were devised to eliminate the slight degree scale error by averaging out error of arc and parallel light ray problems of reflecting octants and sextants; not widely used because of high relative cost.
