Depicts the Canadian Government steamer NEPTUNE banked with snow, in winter quarters. The NEPTUNE had been sent to establish a government presence in Hudson Bay and to regulate trade. She carried a contingent of North-West Mounted Police. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo 189, #16. The number 16 appears to be etched into emulsion near bottom of plate. |
