Instrument is a form of pelorus, on gimbals, mobility of which is controlled by thumb screw on upper edge of box proper. Base of instrument is a compass with arrow pointer; latitude half circle, full time circle, two sight vanes, one with wire line, one with slit, clamps on upright for setting both arrow pointer and lattitude half circle, and a shadow pin which is stored in one corner of box. Lid is secured by two hooks. Carrying strap buckles over the lid. |
