Place: GERMANY: Berlin Date: 1890-1899 Materials: Description: Old brass vernier sextant, possibly 1890s. Inscribed "H. Haecke, Berlin 407"; telescope and 2 sets of shades; diamond frame pattern. Maximum angle about 110 degrees. Sun shades could be used in whatever combination was necessary to reduce the brilliance of the sun to a comfortable level when taking a sighting.
