Place: England, Liverpool Date: After 1850 Materials: Description: Vernier quintant, iron frame, brass fittings, wooden handle. Has telescope sight, missing index mirror shades. Late 19th century. Engraved on arc "W. Desilva Liverpool/ N.C. Lincoln". (William Desilva w. 1851-81). Radius of arc 9". It is equipped with a large sighting scope that magnified well, but reduced the optical angle to the degree that it made it difficult to find the observed celestial body. Sun shades missing. Measures to 138°. |
