Place: USA, NH, Portsmouth; England, London Date: 1853 Materials: Description: Spyglass made by T.T. Messer in 1853. Messer was an instrament maker in London, England. This spyglass was made for George Blunt Wendell, a shipmaster and modelmaker (1831-1881). The spyglass has a woven casing and a woven lanyard attached. It is engraved with the following: "George B. Wendell/ Portsmouth, N.H./ 1853" and "T. T. Messer - London/ Day and Night".
