Description: Oil painting of clipper ship INO (bu. 1851, Williamsburg, NY by Perrine, Patterson & Stack). Owned by Siffkin & Ironside of NY. She was very heavily sparred w/main moonsail and so sharp she could not carry her registered tonnage. Very fast in light to moderate wind. She was taken into the US Navy during the Civil War as a cruiser and later sold & renamed SHOOTING STAR. Later Russian Bark ELLEN, 1866. Painting shows starboard broadside on port tack under full sail. Black hull; another ship on starboard tack in left background. Land and other vessels in distance. Attributed to Joseph B. Smith & Son.
